His extensive background includes at the highest echelons of government in Bangladesh, including as Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership I crisis management, economic policy formulation, and national development initiatives. Dr. Ahmad has also held significant roles in international organizations like the World Bank and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), contributing to global poverty reduction and food security strategies. Relevant Experience Highlights Dr. Ahmad’s career is marked by a progression through increasingly in senior roles in the civil service of Bangladesh, culminating his position as “Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.” In this capacity, he provided direct strategic support, coordinated national priorities, oversaw intelligence agencies, and managed national issues including Covid-19 pandemic, economic crisis, and Rohingya Refugee crisis. Prior to this, as Secretary and Senior Secretary of the Power Division, he was instrumental in achieving 100% household electrification and meeting power generation targets, while also initiating policies for renewable energy and energy efficiency. His leadership extended to establishing the “Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council,” fostering research for the energy sector, and “Bangladesh Power Management Institute” focusing on the capacity building of the power and energy sector. His international experience includes serving as “Alternate Executive Director at the World Bank,” advising on the policy guidelines for global poverty reduction, and as “Deputy Chief of Party at IFPRI, where he led policy research programs focused on food production, income growth, and nutritional improvement, and played a key role in establishing an Agricultural Policy Support Unit.
